The paper sets out the conceptual framework of‘territorialization’ as a way of thinking about and critiquing the spatial and socio-economicimpacts of hosting an Olympic Games. In doing this they identify a number of contributions tothe Olympic movement that have been made by the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic games. The contributions include innovative approaches to the staging of events and ceremonies and to the branding of the Games as a whole.
