Abstract

At the Museum of Antiquities of Turin is now exhibited again the famous portrait of Sargon II from Khorsabad (from the XIX century excavations of P.E. Botta), together with a few other small fragments of Assyrian reliefs. In the paper we present some consideration on two heads from Khorsabad, considering, in particular, the representational codes used by the Assyrian craftsmen in the composition of portraits.
