We still have little information about the last arsacid phases in Old Nisa and in particolar we do not know in detail how and why the citadel was abandoned. The material brought to the light during excavations is dated no later than the middle of I century A.D. and no traces of a continue occupation of the site are attested for the first centuries of our era. On this subject, can be relevant the new works - still ongoing - of the italo-turkmen expedition in the central complex and in the south part of the citadel that revealed monumental structures, functional areas connected with this late phases of ocupation inside the fortifications. The paper aim at illustrate – still in a preliminary way – these results.
