Técnico em reabilitação psiquiátrica: Uma profissão emergente em psiquiatria

The objective of this paper is to present and discuss the graduation of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Technician (TRP). This technician is a precious resource of the Mental Health Service in its various regional groupings. It is a professional in the field of rehabilitation with an expertise in the area of psychiatry and neuropsychiatry, acquired in the three-year training course in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Technician, which is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery from Turin, Italy. The professional TRP is determined and regulated by Ministerial Decree nº 182 of 29 March 2001, replacing Decree nº 57, dated January 17, 1997. This decree establishes the professional activities of specific TRP. Firstly, in the preventive, focus on "risk" factors with a predisposition to the development of a mental disorder and the factors of "protection" for the protection of mental health as the individual context, as encountered in the familiar and environmental context. Secondly, under rehabilitative, designs and conducts operations in the short, medium and long term for the various phases of the subject: child, adult and geriatric. The purpose of the training is to prepare a technical professional to act with competence and with good guidance for research, prioritizing, still, continuous training and solving complex problems, through integration with other professionals and with the participation of patients.
