During the period from January to April 1987 and from February to July 1988, were isolated, from cutaneous and/or mucosal lesions of 100 patients, 108 stocks of Candida. Yeasts stocks were identified by API 20 C-AUX and by Clamidospores growth on R.A.T. medium. The Candida species were found in the same lesion in 8% of cases. We evaluated 'in vitro' activity of 7, commonly used, topical antifungal drugs. The various species of Candida showed a different sensitivity to drugs used. Thus we suggest that the yeast identification and the use of an antimicotic sensitivity test should be helpful to have a correct therapeutic target.
