Summary : We live in a world of data. Almost every human activity is nowadays “measured”, in a way or another. The representation and the communication of this huge amount of information is a big issue. Very often a graph or a picture are better suited than tables and digits. This happens because human beings are much more efficient in recognizing and memorizing shapes and colours rather than digits and formulas. In this paper we briefly review the most popular ways in which statistical information can be represented in a graphical way.

Abstract

Summary : We live in a world of data. Almost every human activity is nowadays “measured”, in a way or another. The representation and the communication of this huge amount of information is a big issue. Very often a graph or a picture are better suited than tables and digits. This happens because human beings are much more efficient in recognizing and memorizing shapes and colours rather than digits and formulas. In this paper we briefly review the most popular ways in which statistical information can be represented in a graphical way.
