L’adjectif berlusconien dans la presse française. Une illustration de l’emploi métaphorique d’un dérivé du nom propre en discours.

Relying on a corpus of French newspapers, this paper sets out to depict the metaphorical usage of an adjective derived from a proper noun: Berlusconien. The analysis of the immediate discursive context, the wider co-text as well as the inter-discursive context of such an adjective shows to what extent it is most likely to give rise to a number of equivalences and misleading muddled assertions serving the immediacy of media rhetoric. After all, the semantic-discursive behaviour of the deonomastic adjective, used metaphorically, seems more malleable and more casual than the metaphorical use of the proper noun, a phenomenon whose bibliography happens to be much larger. L’article décrit l’emploi métaphorique de l’adjectif dérivé du nom propre à partir du cas de berlusconien, observé dans un corpus de presse français. L’analyse du co-texte discursif immédiat, du co-texte élargi ainsi que du contexte interdiscursif de ce qualificatif montre son aptitude à donner lieu à des équivalences et à des amalgames trompeurs, servant les besoins d’immédiateté du langage médiatique. Le comportement sémantico-discursif de l’adjectif déonomastique, utilisé en emploi métaphorique, apparaît finalement plus malléable et plus libre que l’emploi métaphorique du nom propre, phénomène au sujet duquel la bibliographie est bien plus vaste.
