Objectives The incidence of cleft lip and palate in Italy is 1:800 births. The aim of this report is to describe the correction of malocclusion with dental crowding and unilateral left cross bite in an 8-year-old boy with cleft lip and palate and maxillary hypoplasia. Materials and methods The diagnosis was made on the basis of clinical and instrumental findings. The patient was treated with a function-generating bite appliance and later with a fixed appliance associated with open coil springs. Results and conclusions The left unilateral cross bite and dental crowding in this child were corrected with five years of treatment.
