The present study starts from the analysis of poetic texts written mainly by soldiers during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (1979- 1989) and published online at www.artofwar.ru, one of the most interesting examples of digital memory in the Russian language, dedicated to the works of the veterans of the wars War Mondialen and which currently houses approximately 12,000 works by more than 650 authors. In the study it emerges how poetry grants an inner space not only to console and express discomfort and hopes, but also to build a bridge to a different world from the one in which they live the experience of war and to find, through this construction, the strength to resist.
