This article presents an overview of the periodical publications relating to the theater industry that were published in the capital of the Second Spanish Republic. I analyze publications designed to pro- vide information and promote current theatrical. I also study bul- letin publications which laid out the needs and interests of different groups involved in theatrical productions. The analysis of these pub- lications allows us to understand the theatrical genres demanded by the public, the political concerns of intellectuals and artists involved in the theater, as well as the perceptions of theater professionals. Among other aspects of theatrical life during this period, this article also examines contemporary labor demands of theater professionals.
