The inter montane plain of Izeh was a pivotal region of ancient Elam/Elymais, in between the Mesopotamian and the Iranian Plateau. The patterns of ancient settlement have been studied only to a very limited extent. The aim of this paper is to propose the possibility of investigating settlements on the basis of anthrosol detection, using multispectral satellite imagery.
