Abstract

In this study SSR (Simple sequence repeat) loci developed in two oak species, Quercus robur L. and Quercus petraea (Matt.) Lieb., were used to amplify DNA of chestnut cultivars in order to test their transferability across genera. The results demonstrated the usefulness of some SSR markers isolated in Quercus for the fingerprinting of Castanea cultivars.
