HERO is a modular core ontology mainly designed for the representation of events in the historical domain. HERO-TOP contains very general classes and properties (and individuals), e.g., notions such as: abstract entity, (non)physical object, measurement expression, perdurant, being part of, being a sub-concept of, etc. HERO-EVENT contains general classes and properties useful for characterizing events, e.g., notions such as: event, state, action, coming into existence, participation in a perdurant as a, playing the role of agent in a perdurant, occurring at a certain time or in a certain place, being causal factor, etc. HERO-ROCS (HERO for Roles, Organizations, Collections and Sets) contains general classes and properties (and individuals) useful for representing roles, organizations, collections, and sets, e.g. notions such as: role, organization, collection, set, playing a (social) role, being affiliated to an organization, being a sub-organization of, being a member of a collective/set, being a subcollection/subset of, etc. HERO-TIME contains general classes and properties (and individuals) useful for representing time intervals, durations, expressions denoting time intervals, temporary relationships, etc. E.g., notions such as: time interval, day, time interval duration, season, expression denoting a calendar time interval, date, Allen's relations between time intervals, Monday, February, Gregorian calendar, UTC+1:00, etc.
