The role of Helicobacter in dog's gastritis has not been fully elucidatet. Our data show the usefulness of the gastric washing (followed by PCR or cytological examination) in the detection of Helicobacter spp. In addition, in our study Giemsa staining revealed to be as reliable as and preferrable to Warthin Starry stain, being more rapid and less difficult to perform.

Abstract
