The main aim of this project is to develop an innovative conception and measure of democracy for states and International Organization (IOs). In particular the project will: 1. rethink the concept of democracy, develop innovative indexes and employ them in the comparative assessment of states; 2. define how the concept of democracy and its metric can be applied to IOs; 3. assess the relationship between democracy within states and IOs .
