Dear Friends, As President of The International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology I am proud to announce the 14th World Congress of our Society which will be traditionally held in Firenze, Italy, on 4 - 7 March, 2010. Over the past two years our Society has devoted a great part of its activities to educational training and implementation of the information system. One of the most successful projects is our electronic newsletter GynEndo News sent on monthly basis to all our members and others interested in the specific fields of gynecology, obstetrics, endocrinology and all related topics. Thanks to our educational sponsors each month GynEndo News offers an attractive editorial written by a member of the Executive Committee, a selection of abstracts of the most interesting publications, access to the Congress on-line including all the presentations of our previous congresses , and many other information to guarantee a continuous scientific updating. Starting from the 13th World Congress we have decided that the Congress on-line will include the presentations of all the Plenary Sessions, Plenary Lectures, Oral and Poster Presentations, making in this way the complete contents of our event available to the participants and to those who cannot attend the congress in person. Thanks to the support of our official PCO we have also been able to establish a special registration fee that includes membership to our Society and on-line access to our Journal Gynecological Endocrinology, which has reached already its 25th volume of publication. The basic characteristic of our Society is the wide-spectrum vision of the impact of the hormones on woman’s life and her reproductive organs function. We are the only Society studying the impact of hormones on the various organs and systems with a gender orientation, and this is not only limited to the events of adolescence, fertility control, pregnancy and menopause, but also in the more specific effects on non-reproductive organs such as brain, heart, bone, and connective tissues, the immune system, etc, or in the eproductive organs, on the single tissues and cells, from ovary to endometrium, breast, uterus, myometrium... Last but not least the impact of hormones on metabolic syndrome, cancer and the metastatic process, apoptosis and cell differentiation have always had our major attention. The Society will continue to work hard to further implement the technological part and its means of information to keep the scientific knowledge updated at all times. We are also doing our best to guarantee the most interesting scientific programme in occasion of our biennual events, and we strongly request all our members to suggest any topic or area of interest that could be included in the 14th World Congress programme. I look forward to welcoming you all to our beautiful Firenze! Andrea R. Genazzani President of the ISGE
