On Children's Right to Life: Virtuous Management of Intercultural Conflict

Analysis of Special Report to the UN Commission on Human Rights. Brings into full focus a sociocultural and ideological divide, which is analysed in its imbrications with power and ideology. Analysis of genre, stance, voice. Working within a sociolinguistic and socio-cognitive notion of discourse as action, the study focuses on the representation of power hegemonies and of social marginalization, highlighting meta-pragmatic calibration, perspectivity and the role of emotions in the politics of identity/ies. In a socio-cultural and political milieu still largely indifferent to supranational principles such as children’s right to life, the Rapporteur’s assertive stance rejects all distortion of justice, arguing for a new sense of agency and responsibility.
