The annihilation frequency of the reaction ($) over bar pp --> pi(0) pi(0) has been measured, for the first time by stopping antiprotons in a NTP hydrogen target. The obtained result f(pi(0) pi(0))(NTP) = (12.7+/-0.5+/-2.0)X10(-4) is discussed in the frame of the study of the initial angular momentum of the ($) over bar pp system.
