This article aims at shedding some light on the socio-psychological reality of young adult offenders and non-offenders, and examines the ways in which young adult offenders described and represented themselves in hoped-for, expected and feared future realities, in comparison with young non-offenders. The research findings suggest that possible selves and self-discrepancies significantly discriminate between offenders and non-offenders. The presence of negative features in the temporal self-schema as well as the absence of positive self-appraisal was a strong indicator of the socio-psychological reality of offenders.

The research findings suggest that possible selves and self-discrepancies significantly discriminate between offenders and non-offenders. The presence of negative features in the temporal self-schema as well as the absence of positive self-appraisal was a strong indicator of the socio-psychological reality of offenders.File in questo prodotto:
