Static and dynamic volumes and the flow/volume curve in air and after an 80%-20% mixture of He and O2 were determined in 15 patients with mitral stenosis. Those with the most serious symptoms displayed marked impairment of ventilation parameters (FEV1, Vmax, FEF50, FEF75) and poor modification of expiratory flows after He-O2. This suggests that the small airways are the sites of major obstruction in mitral stenosis.

Abstract
Static and dynamic volumes and the flow/volume curve in air and after an 80%-20% mixture of He and O2 were determined in 15 patients with mitral stenosis. Those with the most serious symptoms displayed marked impairment of ventilation parameters (FEV1, Vmax, FEF50, FEF75) and poor modification of expiratory flows after He-O2. This suggests that the small airways are the sites of major obstruction in mitral stenosis.File in questo prodotto:
