Abstract

The paper discusses the possible development of interdisciplinary curricula in history and geography in the Italian school system. The idea of building a common platform based on the issues and problems of cultural and educational experience has arisen from direct experience of “history and geography” in the two-year high school program. This didactic concept avoids the risk of favoring one of the disciplines over the other, but instead requires a strong epistemological and methodological innovation concerning both disciplines. There is a need to abandon the traditional educational curricula in order to develop a new model for the organization of knowledge.
