Isolated Co2+ on the surface of diluted CoOMgO solid solutions reversibly binds oxygen, forming molecular species characterized by OO stretching frequencies in the 1160 - 1015 cm-1 range. On the basis of isotope substitution experiments and by comparison with homogeneous analogues, it is concluded that O2 is adsorbed in the O-12 superoxide form and that the diluted MgOCoO solid solutions are interesting examples of heterogeneous oxygen carriers and activators.

Abstract
Isolated Co2+ on the surface of diluted CoOMgO solid solutions reversibly binds oxygen, forming molecular species characterized by OO stretching frequencies in the 1160 - 1015 cm-1 range. On the basis of isotope substitution experiments and by comparison with homogeneous analogues, it is concluded that O2 is adsorbed in the O-12 superoxide form and that the diluted MgOCoO solid solutions are interesting examples of heterogeneous oxygen carriers and activators.File in questo prodotto:
