This study demonstrates that Maltese and Derivata di Siria goats greatly differ from Alpine and Saanen populations for the higher frequency of alpha-s1-Cn A and alpha-s2-Cn B variants and of milk with a high content of alpha-s1-Cn. The last point is of great interest from a practical point of view, because a higher alpha-s1-Cn content is related to better technological properties of milk.

Abstract

This study demonstrates that Maltese and Derivata di Siria goats greatly differ from Alpine and Saanen populations for the higher frequency of alpha-s1-Cn A and alpha-s2-Cn B variants and of milk with a high content of alpha-s1-Cn. The last point is of great interest from a practical point of view, because a higher alpha-s1-Cn content is related to better technological properties of milk.
