A Brazilian child was adopted at the age of 2 months by Italian parents. They referred that since then he had fever for 1 month, anorexia, anaemia and bilateral axillary and inguinal lymphadenopathy. At the age of 17 months he developed persistent fever for 5 weeks (38-39°C) following surgery for stenosis of pyelo-ureteral junction. High and increasing antibody titres to Trypanosoma cruzi led to the diagnosis of Chagas' disease in the indeterminate phase. Two therapeutic cycles of Benznidazole (8 mg/Kg/die) for a total of 4 months were well-tolerated and resulted in recovery from the infection, as documented by the gradual, but complete disappearance of antibodies to Trypanosoma.

Abstract
A Brazilian child was adopted at the age of 2 months by Italian parents. They referred that since then he had fever for 1 month, anorexia, anaemia and bilateral axillary and inguinal lymphadenopathy. At the age of 17 months he developed persistent fever for 5 weeks (38-39°C) following surgery for stenosis of pyelo-ureteral junction. High and increasing antibody titres to Trypanosoma cruzi led to the diagnosis of Chagas' disease in the indeterminate phase. Two therapeutic cycles of Benznidazole (8 mg/Kg/die) for a total of 4 months were well-tolerated and resulted in recovery from the infection, as documented by the gradual, but complete disappearance of antibodies to Trypanosoma.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
