In this work we analyze the neutron-antineutron oscillations in nuclei, within the nuclear shell model. In the calculation we use a new parameterization of the phenomenological part of the Paris nucleon-antinucleon potential, which takes into account the most recent proton-antiproton scattering data. Exploiting the experimental limits on nuclear stability we estimate the neutron-antineutron oscillation time for different nuclei. Possible sensitivities on it, reachable with new projects of big underground detectors are also discussed.

Abstract

In this work we analyze the neutron-antineutron oscillations in nuclei, within the nuclear shell model. In the calculation we use a new parameterization of the phenomenological part of the Paris nucleon-antinucleon potential, which takes into account the most recent proton-antiproton scattering data. Exploiting the experimental limits on nuclear stability we estimate the neutron-antineutron oscillation time for different nuclei. Possible sensitivities on it, reachable with new projects of big underground detectors are also discussed.
