Three new alleles (B-, F, 0) were identified at the goat alpha-s1-Cn locus, in addition to alleles A, B and C previously reported. Preliminary investigations indicated a significant superiority in casein content of milk from goats possessing the A allele as compared to that of milk from goats of genotypes FF and B-F. A strong correlation was observed between the alpha-s1-casein content and the rennet-casein content of milk.

Abstract
