This strategy allowed the company to get through the Great Depression of 1929-1932 safely . Adriano’s sudden death, in 1960,made it difficult to keep on developing both international presence and technological innovation. Yet that path still remains a good model. Abstract
In the Fifties Olivetti’s internationalization process improved enormously. This achievement is the result of Camillo Olivetti's entrepreneurial decisions made in the Twenties and Thirties. At that time the company followed two paths that were strategic for growth: cutting edge process and product innovation , and outward foreign direct investment. This strategy allowed the company to get through the Great Depression of 1929-1932 safely . After the Second Worl War Adriano Olivetti, by adhering to the cornerstones of his father’s entrepreneurial strategy, built a global company based on innovation and culture, efficiency and social responsibility. Thus in 1959 Olivetti was able to take over American Underwood, a glorious and historic brand of typewriters. In the meantime, Olivetti brought out the first Italian electronic computer. Adriano’s sudden death, in 1960,made it difficult to keep on developing both international presence and technological innovation. Yet that path still remains a good model. To bear the brunt of this difficult situation was the Olivetti Electronic Division that was sold off to General Electric. It was a lost opportunity for both Olivetti and Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
