Female entrepreneurship is neither new nor recent: it is instead a proteiform phenomenon changing over time. Social attitudes, society’s value system and its culture, male and female demographic trends, technology, trade standards and the global economy all contribute towards shaping women’s entrepreneurial typologies. In the last century, the determinants of business women in Italy were: at the macro-economic level, the first (1896-1914) and the second (between the Fifties and the Sixties) economic miracles when the Italian economy was more exposed to international economic flows; among institutions and organizations, family and small businesses played a pivotal role. The main typologies of women entrepreneurs are marked by these determinants : patronesses, network-women, family business women, managers, self-employed women.

Abstract
Female entrepreneurship is neither new nor recent: it is instead a proteiform phenomenon changing over time. Social attitudes, society’s value system and its culture, male and female demographic trends, technology, trade standards and the global economy all contribute towards shaping women’s entrepreneurial typologies. In the last century, the determinants of business women in Italy were: at the macro-economic level, the first (1896-1914) and the second (between the Fifties and the Sixties) economic miracles when the Italian economy was more exposed to international economic flows; among institutions and organizations, family and small businesses played a pivotal role. The main typologies of women entrepreneurs are marked by these determinants : patronesses, network-women, family business women, managers, self-employed women.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
