The Museum of Criminal Anthropology created in Turin by Cesare Lombroso (1835-1909) is a cultural heritage unique in the world. Its redesign, leading to its opening to the public in November 2009, provided the occasion to enhance this heritage, to underline its historical scientific importance and to conduct museum communication and education initiatives. Since the collections, which reflect the interests of Lombroso, invite the visitor to give thought to delicate matters still the subject of debate, the project of museum communication was particularly complex and required the collaboration of various specialists. The exhibition course winds through nine rooms: some of them have a historical setting, while others exploit modern museography which, thanks to several videos, presents a critical view of Lombroso’s work and proposes a general reflection on the scientific method.
