Among major clinical signs of Parkinson's disease are poor control of stance and gait associated with altered posture, difficulties in gait initiation, reduced stride length and poorly modulated motor performance. Computer assisted gait analysis with algorithms for normilizing time and ampitude of signals) is able to improve diagnostic ability giving the clinician quantitative parameters of both normal and altered EMG profile. In our studies we analized gait and balance of 10 parkinsonian (stage It-Ill) and 10 age matched normal controls. Aim of the study was to investigate whether quantitative gait analysis and balance studies can differentiate between the EMG and postural pattern of normal elderly people and parkinsonian patients, particularly at the early stage of the disease.

Abstract
Among major clinical signs of Parkinson's disease are poor control of stance and gait associated with altered posture, difficulties in gait initiation, reduced stride length and poorly modulated motor performance. Computer assisted gait analysis with algorithms for normilizing time and ampitude of signals) is able to improve diagnostic ability giving the clinician quantitative parameters of both normal and altered EMG profile. In our studies we analized gait and balance of 10 parkinsonian (stage It-Ill) and 10 age matched normal controls. Aim of the study was to investigate whether quantitative gait analysis and balance studies can differentiate between the EMG and postural pattern of normal elderly people and parkinsonian patients, particularly at the early stage of the disease.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
