From literature Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) have considered as markers of cognitive functions (alertness, attention, short-term memory, stimulus discrimination). Aim of this study is to verify the possibility of neurophysiological investigation by ERPs to study the influence of AEDs on higher cortical functions in patients with epilepsy. Preliminary results confirm those of recent reports in literature: reducing politherapy improves cognitive performances; less cognitive impairment with CBZ and VPA than PB; absence of adverse effects on cognitive functions with GVG.

Abstract
From literature Event-Related Potentials (ERPs) have considered as markers of cognitive functions (alertness, attention, short-term memory, stimulus discrimination). Aim of this study is to verify the possibility of neurophysiological investigation by ERPs to study the influence of AEDs on higher cortical functions in patients with epilepsy. Preliminary results confirm those of recent reports in literature: reducing politherapy improves cognitive performances; less cognitive impairment with CBZ and VPA than PB; absence of adverse effects on cognitive functions with GVG.File in questo prodotto:
