The articles in the volume have a common research framework as they focus on textual, semantic and pragmatic features of domain-specific discourse with a view to understanding how local or disciplinary cultural identities are altered, integrated or redefined by international / intercultural communication. The articles are embedded within this common framework with reference to specific fields of discourse, i.e. legal, academic, institutional, socio-political, business and economics, which accounts for their distribution into three thematic sections: professional identities, European and international identities, identities in academic texts and contexts.
