The foundation, organisation and developments of the first "French Theatre" in Italy, held in Turin in the XIXth century, are investigated here thanks to researches in journals and periodicals as wellas in rare books providing some chronicles of that hall. In an age when national culture was promoted, Turin maintained its role of trait d'union between French and Italian culture. The Scribe Theatre, later destroyed, allowed the first Italian tournées of French theatrical companies and contributed to the renewal of theatrical contents and spirit in Italy.
