Falsi anglicismi: punto d’incontro tra lessicografia e linguistica dei corpora

The coinage of false Anglicisms is the result of the great influence that the English language has on Italian. False Anglicisms, which are often believed to be real English words, are in fact autonomous creations of the Italian language. In this study false Anglicisms are examined from both a lexicographic and a corpus-based perspective. More specifically, their orthographic and morphological features are identified and quantified on the basis of the data obtained from a large corpus collected from the Italian newspaper La Repubblica. Finally, the issue of translatability of false Anglicisms is hinted at and some translation equivalents and definitions are proposed and commented.
