This article examines the Italian phenomenon of false Anglicisms from a lexicographic perspective. It describes the way in which false Anglicisms are recorded in Italian monolingual dictionaries whilst providing a typology and suggesting a tentatively comprehensive list of their use in Italian. The author argues that they are not treated adequately by some recent electronic dictionaries and that a more accurate typology of false Anglicisms is needed for a proper classification and a better compilation of both Italian monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.

Abstract
This article examines the Italian phenomenon of false Anglicisms from a lexicographic perspective. It describes the way in which false Anglicisms are recorded in Italian monolingual dictionaries whilst providing a typology and suggesting a tentatively comprehensive list of their use in Italian. The author argues that they are not treated adequately by some recent electronic dictionaries and that a more accurate typology of false Anglicisms is needed for a proper classification and a better compilation of both Italian monolingual and bilingual dictionaries.File in questo prodotto:
