This chapter provides a detailed description of the status of the art on the role of nitric oxide (NO) in somatosensory pathways. After discussing the function of nitric oxide in CNS as well as the biochemistry of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), data are provided on the distribution and cellular localization of NOS in CNS and synaptic signaling. The core of the chapter is devoted to description of somatosensory pathways and the central mechanisms of nociception that are mediated by NO.

Abstract
This chapter provides a detailed description of the status of the art on the role of nitric oxide (NO) in somatosensory pathways. After discussing the function of nitric oxide in CNS as well as the biochemistry of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), data are provided on the distribution and cellular localization of NOS in CNS and synaptic signaling. The core of the chapter is devoted to description of somatosensory pathways and the central mechanisms of nociception that are mediated by NO.File in questo prodotto:
