Aim. Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a very frequent bone benign neoplasm. Percutaneous radiofrequency thermoablation (RF) is progressively substituting OO classical surgical treatment; the results are influenced by the type of needle used. Aim of the study is to evaluate the clinical and imaging results of OO treatment widi CT guided RF ablation using the needle CT-1510 COOL TIP® RF PERFUSION ELECTRODE KIT (Radio-nics) at an Italian regional reference centre. Methods. At AO CTO/Maria Adelaide in Turin, Reference centre for bone and soft tissue neoplasms at Polo Cittadella within "Rete Oncologica del Piemonte", 109 individuals affected by OO were treated between January 2001 and September 2007 using the aforementioned needle. Post-treatment pain, movement and function recovery, the need to repeat the procedure due to residual disease or local recurrence, complications were evaluated. Results. There was a 100% technical and therapeutical success. No severe complications were reported. All the study cohort (100%) returned to normal activities within 2-3 weeks, sport activities within 2 months. Conclusion. RF albation is currentiy the most common technique in the treatment of OO, therapeutical success has been reported to vary from 76% to 98%. In the authors' experience, RF ablation witii die needle CT-1510 COOL TIP® RF PERFUSION ELECTRODE KIT (Radionics) is successful. Classical surgical treatment also plays an important role in particular cases. RF ablation seems to be the gold standard technique in the modern treatment of OO thanks to mini-invasivity and quick resolution of pain
