Abstract
The first scholars who have made use of the category of transnationalism have considered this paradigm an interpretative innovation related to the speeding of communications, to the crisis of the nation state and to economic globalization. This essay maintains that these practices are a feature already present in the Italian emigration. Transnational networks were built on family and local relations. Decision making about emigration has always depended upon a common family strategy that aimed to dislodge the domestic resources wherever was possible to integrate the family budget.File in questo prodotto:
