Introduction. Dyshidrosiform pemphigoid is a variant of bullous pemphigoid. Although rare, it appears to have distinct clinical features. A persistent vescicobollous eruption, which may mislead the clinician to the diagnosis of pompholyx, occurs on palms and soles. Purpose. A case of an eighty-five - year-old man, suffering from ischemic cardiopathy and renal failure, in treatment with furosomide and isosorbide dinitrate, showed erythematous itching patches and blisters on extremities, like a pompholyx is reported. Subjects. A biopsy was performed and microscopic examination and DIF proved typical for bullous pemphigoid. Withdrawing the furosomide only and treatment with low dosage prednisone, resulted in the complete remission of the skin lesions. Conclusion. The authors suggest the possibility of dyshidrosiform pemphigoid induced by furosemide (first case in the literature) and the significance of histological and immunological investigations also in common dermatosis.
