The contraction behaviour of the sand-dwelling sea anemone Halcampoides purpurea var. mediterranea was observed in situ in a cave of the Penisola Sorrentina (Gulf of Naples). The circadian rhythm of activity of two specimens, together with migrations of mysidacean swarms in and out the cave, was studied with time-lapse photography.
