In this paper I analyse the notion of "animality" in Thoreau's philosophy. Through the philosophy of civil disobedience, and ontology of nature, I argue that philosophical approach of Thoreau is necessary for the contemporary debate about animal/human philosophy (also in an integrated perspective with social ontology). My idea is that: it is possible criticise the society only reconsidering our "animal nature" - on the basis of this nature we can imagine a different construction of social reality (and a different metaphysical approach). As argued by Thoreau, in fact, most of the social problems are connected to forgetfulness of "nature" and "animality": is necessary "bringing to light" this notions, using an realistic approach, to restore the right direction about the philosophical debate on social word and animal question.

Abstract
In this paper I analyse the notion of "animality" in Thoreau's philosophy. Through the philosophy of civil disobedience, and ontology of nature, I argue that philosophical approach of Thoreau is necessary for the contemporary debate about animal/human philosophy (also in an integrated perspective with social ontology). My idea is that: it is possible criticise the society only reconsidering our "animal nature" - on the basis of this nature we can imagine a different construction of social reality (and a different metaphysical approach). As argued by Thoreau, in fact, most of the social problems are connected to forgetfulness of "nature" and "animality": is necessary "bringing to light" this notions, using an realistic approach, to restore the right direction about the philosophical debate on social word and animal question.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
