The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon two entities—”empathy” and “nature”—in relation to contemporary ethics. The main thesis of this field of study is inscribed in an analysis of the nature of mind, applied to the foundation of morals. The unconscious part of the human mind is the key to decipher in what way morals and ethics, the private and the social, are influenced by our biological makeup. That is, they are influenced by the frames built into that machine we call Homo Sapiens. These innate aspects of the mind connect and join us to one another at a deep level, defining the general meaning that allows the very existence of our species’ ethical life.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to reflect upon two entities—”empathy” and “nature”—in relation to contemporary ethics. The main thesis of this field of study is inscribed in an analysis of the nature of mind, applied to the foundation of morals. The unconscious part of the human mind is the key to decipher in what way morals and ethics, the private and the social, are influenced by our biological makeup. That is, they are influenced by the frames built into that machine we call Homo Sapiens. These innate aspects of the mind connect and join us to one another at a deep level, defining the general meaning that allows the very existence of our species’ ethical life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
