In this article, we analyse the sociological role of the so-called "New Realism". This broad current of thought has been set against postmodernism in the recent cultural and philosophical debate, for which Maurizio Ferraris' Manifesto of New Realism (Laterza, 2012; forthcoming for SUNY press) constitutes a central point. Here we investigate, in ten steps, the sociological consequences (the role of human beings changes in the "world system") and the philosophical outcomes (a different method of "philosophizing" is adopted) of "New Realism". Finally, we try to draw some conclusions about the ethical and political role that this movement can play in its recovery of the "emancipatory" will with respect to the brute objectivity of facts.

Abstract
In this article, we analyse the sociological role of the so-called "New Realism". This broad current of thought has been set against postmodernism in the recent cultural and philosophical debate, for which Maurizio Ferraris' Manifesto of New Realism (Laterza, 2012; forthcoming for SUNY press) constitutes a central point. Here we investigate, in ten steps, the sociological consequences (the role of human beings changes in the "world system") and the philosophical outcomes (a different method of "philosophizing" is adopted) of "New Realism". Finally, we try to draw some conclusions about the ethical and political role that this movement can play in its recovery of the "emancipatory" will with respect to the brute objectivity of facts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
