Wild bees: importance and problems Bees live on resources they obtain from flowers and therefore they have evolved to adapt themselves to floral morphology, thus becoming the key pollinating agents for maintaining plant biodiversity. Beside the few species that are kept by man, wild species are of paramount significance at a global level, but they play an essential role in extremely difficult environments or on specific occasions. Climate changes, habitat reduction, landscape alterations, and crop system intensification have brought in the last few decades to a generalized wild bee decline, both as species number and insect abundance. Therefore serious concerns were raised about wild bee survival, and various initiatives and actions for their protection were stimulated.

Abstract
Wild bees: importance and problems Bees live on resources they obtain from flowers and therefore they have evolved to adapt themselves to floral morphology, thus becoming the key pollinating agents for maintaining plant biodiversity. Beside the few species that are kept by man, wild species are of paramount significance at a global level, but they play an essential role in extremely difficult environments or on specific occasions. Climate changes, habitat reduction, landscape alterations, and crop system intensification have brought in the last few decades to a generalized wild bee decline, both as species number and insect abundance. Therefore serious concerns were raised about wild bee survival, and various initiatives and actions for their protection were stimulated.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
