Translation is not only a linguistic issue but, and maybe particularly, a problem with a great ethical and political import. In Greek philosophy, the linguistic presuppositions of community turn the translation into an operation, aiming at pointing out the equivalences or the synonymities, conditions of every universalist conception of language. Some contemporary theories on translation – notably those of Benjamin and Ortega y Gasset – allow to understand the translation process in a different way: as a historical process of display of differences, which in their totality recompose the pure language, by Benjamin; or as a process where the disequivalences and the incommensurability between languages come to the fore, promoting the openness to the other and to the stranger, by Ortega y Gasset. Such a conception of translation constitutes the cue for a different ontology, the core of which is the concept of dynamis.

Abstract
Such a conception of translation constitutes the cue for a different ontology, the core of which is the concept of dynamis.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
