Val Vibrata-Tronto. Territori di confine: una analisi secondaria multidimensionale

In order to trace specific dynamics related to the location of the municipalities’ clusters on the border area between the Marche and Abruzzi regions, this paper (which is closely based on the analysis of secondary data) takes into consideration the main indicators of structure, available at the micro level. Some dimensions related to demography, economic sectors and tourist attractions have been explored. In particular, the analysis shows how the demographic and economic configurations predispose the “border area” to a large-scale tourist accommodation sector. As a matter of facts, this area is home to some of the most popular tourist destinations in the Middle-Adriatic region. The leading tourism segment is represented by sea tourism, although in the inlands the development of the B&B phenomenon starts being note-worthy. It is hypothesized that this kind of hospitality can also serve as support for the accommodation of non-resident workers.
