«Il n’y a qu’un seul art, le dramatique». Le inchieste sulla stampa periodica al crocevia delle discussioni sul teatro a inizio Novecento: materiali per una sintesi

In the early 20th century journalistic surveys became a cute means of communication and promotion for cultural debates. Among the many inquiries organized in France and hosted on newspapers and magazines, some important dynamic discussions about the renewal of the art of the theatre were organized. Such corpora allow today to gather lively opinions from artists, playwrights, critics and scholars otherwise forgotten and to sum up their common aim beyond individual arguments and experiences: «re-théâtraliser le théâtre» by rediscovering its most ancient tradition and its most profound, primitive spirit. A ‘total’ art, including all arts and techniques, appears to be the leitmotiv of that press questioning.
