In the early nineties Husserl develops a philosophy of geometry gathering perspectives and concepts from classical geometry, descriptive psychology and manifold theory. At the same time, he proposes a critique of Riemann’s geometry that is implicitly inspired by Leibniz’s critique of Descartes’ geometry. Moreover, Husserl was inspired by Veronese, Von Staudt and Grassmann – whose mathematical works explicitly refer to Leibniz’s analysis situs. Although Husserl does not devise any complete treatise on the matter, he left various interesting notes that are still unpublished. Furthermore, checking the marks on the volumes from his personal library, we can detect what books and which passages he read. Abstract

Considering these hints, it is possible to understand the way Husserl approaches analysis situs and updates Leibniz’s ideas within his own frame of thought.
