Abstract

The description and traceological study of a Gravettian non-utilitarian steatite object formerly found in the Florestan Cave (Grimaldi) are proposed here. The two main faces of this sub-rectangular object are covered with marked grooves. One of its sides shows serrations. A deep blind hole is visible in the middle of one of the faces. A technological interpretation is proposed, on the basis of the micromorphological study of surface modifications.
