M.K. Mamardashvili was an outstanding figure within Russian thought during the Soviet period. Not being a dissident himself, he always played the role of a “free thinker” in spite of non-free conditions. According to him, the individual person forms him/herself within certain cultural forms, which have a transcendental function as conditions for the experience itself to happen. Individual human beings define themselves within a specific «linguistic space», that makes it possible to develop a certain personality, to become responsible of one's own actions. Only through a dialogue with the cultural forms of his/her time, a human being can develop as a person and a citizen.

Abstract
